Sea Olympics

The Sea Olympics began in the morning with the opening ceremonies, a banner, and a chant competition.  Both our banner and chant were amazing.  Our chant won first place and blew everyone out of the water!  Not literally, because that would be bad on a ship.  We got second with our banner and the Baltic Sea won first.  Their banner was pretty amazing too.

After that we all went back to our deck and waited for our sea representative to bring us the list for the scavenger hunt.  We all waiting in the hallway, all very excited.  When the list came down we spent about an hour running back and forth from our rooms getting our things to throw in the box.  Throughout the day there were eighteen competitions.  We won first place in 9 of them and placed in the top three in 16.  It was completely amazing!  A lot of it was because no one saw it coming.  I think there were a lot of people that didn’t even know we were a sea.  We were the complete underdogs and we dominated the competition!
You may not be able to see this, but here is the score board.  I am in the Aegean Sea.
The Sea Olympics were really fun!  Our lip sync was also completely amazing!  I wasn’t it in, but I am hoping I can steal someone’s copy of it so I can bring it home with me.
The prize for winning the Olympics is that we now get to disembark first once we reach San Diego (after faculty and 4.0 students, I think).  When it was announced that we won our entire sea erupted in screams.  We got a group picture once everyone else left the Union and sang “We Are The Champions” as a group, then gathered around the piano for some random singing.  It was probably my most fun day on the ship so far.  After the competitions were all finished I had to lead worship.  I tried to scrub all of the blue war paint off of my face before playing in front of everyone, but I don’t think I got it all.
So the Olympics were actually yesterday, today not much happened.  I have been struggling all day with my sinuses and my voice is mostly gone (possibly from screaming when it was announced that we won).  Today I went to classes as usually.  Tomorrow night I am singing in the talent show, which isn’t going to work if I don’t have a voice!  Hopefully it comes back before then!
