On our fourth day in India we slept in. At least, the others slept in. I woke up at 7AM and read for 2 hours until the others woke up. We had to get to the airport by 2PM. Since we didn't have much time to look around Delhi we had a pretty slow morning.
When we got to the airport we got iced lattes. Since they had ice in them I may have broken the ‘don’t drink the water’ rule… I was still fine, though. On the airplane meals were served again! I have never been so excited about airplane food before, but it was really exciting. It was just rice and curry this time.
The plane landed at 4PM. We headed straight for the bathrooms. Normally I would not put this into a blog… But there were trench toilets there. I thought that was interesting… Then we met Rahul outside of the airport.
We didn’t know where we wanted to go, so we just told him to show us around. He had a driver with him, so we didn’t have worry about finding taxis. He took us to the India Gate and then showed us around the city. We saw different train stations, churches, and an art gallery before stopping for snack time. I don’t remember what we ate that time either… We ordered two dishes. Both were rice cakes that we dipped into sauces and ate with our fingers. Whatever it was, it was good.
After snack time we walked around some more. Mumbai felt a lot safer than Delhi did, so we didn’t feel weird about walking around at night at all. On the way to the restaurant where we were going to eat dinner a bird pooped on Alexa’s head. The most danger we faced was getting an angry glare from Alexa when we tried to take pictures.
We stopped for dinner at a place that was so busy it had a line going out the door. We waited for about 15 minutes, but it was completely worth it! We ate something called Bov Bohaji (or something like that). The dish was bread (bov) and something else that you dipped the bread (bohaji) in. It was really cheesy and amazing... We weren't suppoed to eat cheese.
After dinner we went to Rahul’s friend Fredrick’s house. Fredrick was Danish and since Rahul and Alexa met while being exchange students in Denmark, Rahul really wanted us to go there. It was already 1:30AM when we left his house. Since I don’t usually stay up that late, I was pretty much a zombie at this point.
We took a taxi to Rahul’s apartment where we were planning to spend the night. Rahul couldn’t sleep though, so we were up until around 3:30. I think I got maybe five hours of sleep that night.

ReplyDeleteI've never actually heard of a bird pooping on someone's head... is there an influx of birds there?
