The Officer's Club and Extended Families

The internet has been on and off the past few days so I haven’t been able to blog or send many emails.  There hasn’t been much to write about the last few days anyway.  I went to a couple different bible studies on ship and a few of us started having breakfast together on A days and read over the book of Luke.  We have done it twice now and it has been pretty good.  It’s definitely a great way to start the day.
Aside from classes, I haven’t been doing much.  Last night was the first meeting for the extended family program.  Basically it’s where they place a group of students together with a lifelong learner or member of the faculty so we have some kind of adult contact, which is great since I can only talk to people my own age for so long.  There were six students in my group and two of them I already knew.  Other Other Liz was there (not to be confused with Liz or Other Liz who have been mentioned before) who lives down the hall next to Liz, and also someone I knew from Colorado!  During the voyage we are going to plan family dinner or movies nights, which sounds pretty cool.  Our “ship mom” is a primatologist and is in charge of the lifelong learners program for the voyage.  I don't think you have to be a monkey to be a lifelong learner, though.
I went to zumba for the first time last night.  It was pretty fun.  Someone in the A/V booth keeps turning on the camera during the zumba class and broadcasting it on the TVs, which is just awkward.  I think I was stealthy enough to stay out of sight of the camera.  I hope, at least.
Last night The Officer’s Club (meaning me, Liz, Other Liz, and Matt) got together to watch an episode of the  Office.  Since we could only watch one episode before Other Liz had to go to work, we decided to play a board game.  We are able to rent them on the ship from the field program desk.  First we were going to play Trivia Pursuit 90’s edition, but it turned out it was too hard since there were no Nickelodeon related questions.  So then we tried Trivial Pursuit kid’s edition, which turned out to be the Indian edition…  We didn’t know any of the answers so we all went up and looked at the game shelf.  We found a game called Imaginiff that seemed pretty interesting.  The rules are that you write people’s names on different parts of the board and when you land on them you had to answer questions about that person.  We ended up putting random people on the board like the cabin steward (because Sotero is just awesome), the guy who gives me candy whenever he walks by, Michael Scott, Ko (our RD), which was fun.   It gets kind of awkward, though, when one of the people’s names who is on the board walks up and someone (*cough* Matt *cough*) decides to tell him he is on there because we are imagining things about him…  I don’t think Ko has talked to any of us since.

  1. I thought I had played Imaginiff, but I don't remember it being anything like that. Hmm. Sounds fun though!

  2. Liz is the one you met in Nassau. Who is other Liz and other other Liz? I'm getting confused.

P.S. If there will be an other other other Liz I will need clarification.
