I woke up at 5am in order to get to the bus for sunrise tai chi in time. The bus took my group to a tai chi studio where we got to practice tai chi for a couple of hours. I had never done tai chi before and it was a pretty interesting experience. It was difficult to move slowly and steadily enough to do the movements right.
Rheanna and I decided to head out for some brunch and shopping before I had to meet people at 1pm. We walked to the subway station and went to the Yu Garden Market station. At first we couldn’t find where we were trying to go, so we bought some boba milk tea and walked around for a bit before we found a group of people who said we could follow them to the market.
There was a dim sum shop in the market where we stopped for brunch. We got some noodles, sticky rice, and dumplings. It was amazing! If I could eat dim sum every day for the rest of my life I would very seriously consider it and then probably not do it.
Next we stopped into a pearl shop to look around and spend the rest of the morning looking around different shops. After dim sum I got some kind of soup thing that you drink from a pastry through a straw. Then when you are out of the soup part you strain it out the bottom and eat the rest with your fingers.
It was almost 12:30 so we headed back to the ship to meet some people. We ate lunch and then headed straight back to the Yu Garden Market. The group got split up and it was me, Rheanna, Josh, and Evan at the Market. I think the other cab may have dropped the others off at a different place. Evan left us to search for some things. There was a giant line of locals leading to a food stand so Josh and I got in line while Rheanna did some shopping. I gave her some money to buy some gifts for me so we could see what was at the end of the line. We figured if there is a large line of locals waiting for something, then we should be in that line.
Josh and I finally found the end of the line and ordered dumplings right as Rheanna returned. The line was completely worth it! The dumplings were amazing, though I am still not positive of what they were.
After dumplings we did the rest of our shopping. Before leaving Josh and I decided to buy some rolling shoes and boba tea before heading back to the ship. We had to search for the seller who had the rolling shoes since he was wearing some and moved pretty quick. At the beginning they were everywhere, but nowhere when we decided to buy. We found the guy right before we jumped into a cab and headed back to the ship before on-ship time.
The rest of the night I spent watching the Office and practicing guitar for the Easter sunrise service the next morning.
